Calling all singers! ![]() HISS 2017 for chamber choir includes a survey of Monteverdi in the 450th anniversary year of his birth, to include a selection of his Madrigals across Books 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 8, written during his time at the Gonzaga court in Mantua. There will be music from the “other” Vespers (1641) with Dixit Dominus II and the Gloria a 7. We'll also explore settings of words from Psalm 137 By the Waters of Babylon; the pair of motets by de Monte, and Byrd's response to this, an anthem by Boyce and 8-part setting by Victoria. We'll also look at motets by Alonso Lobo. In lighter vein there's music by Waelrant, de Wert, Campion and Dowland. Oh, and do you know the 16 part Crucifixus by Lotti! I'd love to sign up for this. I can show my faith, while singing at the same time. This is the perfect opportunity for religious singers like me. I'm not afraid to show my talents in singing in the school. I hope that many people will sign up for this.
